The Academy: A Side Quest That Becomes Everything

It starts small. If you let it, it becomes the whole game.

A smaller feature in ACE. It starts as a side quest. If you let it, it quietly becomes the whole game.

After some time managing your player, once you've earned a place in this world and some money along with it, you get the option to open your own academy. At first it's simple, and it's a joy: sign a few young players, follow their development year by year, fun events, fun decisions, the small dramas of kids growing up inside a brutal sport. Then, when the time comes, each of them reaches a crossroads: go their own way into the world, or you choose to continue with them.

That sentence is hiding the biggest decision in the game. Picture where you might be at that moment: years into a career, your player, the one taken from nowhere through the qualifiers and the heartbreaks, maybe number one in the world. Everything you set out to do, done. And down in your academy, a kid you've seen something in.

So: stay at the top, comfortable, managing what you've already built? Or leave it, all of it, and go back to the beginning? Back to training a teenager, back to the depths of the rankings, back to fighting for the top hundred, then the top twenty, then the top ten, trying to recreate what you already did once, and knowing exactly how hard it is this time. That's the hook: money poured into recognizing and developing the next star, and then the hardest choice in sport: walking away from the summit to climb the mountain again.

Why build it this way: that's the real life cycle of loving something. Whenever you actually accomplish something, a strange thing happens. You want more, but what you actually want is to go back, to try again, differently. Every management game veteran knows the strange emptiness at the top, and the itch to start a new save. So: build that itch into the world itself. The academy and the newgen system exist to always give you that door. There will always be someone coming up, always a kid who might be the next one, always a reason to leave everything built and begin again, inside the same living world, without ever pressing "new game."

And it goes further than one successor. Bring three into the academy, four, five, and watch each have their own career, their own path, some breaking through, some breaking down, some surprising you both ways. Some guided personally, others released into the world and watched from a distance with that particular mix of pride and regret. Over the years, the rankings slowly fill with your fingerprints. That world becomes yours, populated by people you found, shaped, believed in.

It starts as a side quest. It ends as a legacy. Honestly, this might be the feature we're most excited for you to reach: not the first match, not the first title, but that quiet moment years in, looking at a fifteen-year-old's profile in the academy and thinking, that's the one. Then leaving number one behind, and starting again.
